So you've prayed, petitioned, and maybe even fasted, and God answered. Now what? How are you stewarding what you've prayed for? Stewardship is the careful, responsible management of something entrusted to one's care.
How often do we become so familiar with something we once prayed for that we forget to cherish and steward it? If that sounds like you, trust me, you're not alone. It happens to the best of us. Stewardship has been on my mind lately, and it's got me reflecting on the answered prayers I'm living in but have become too familiar with.
For over 10 years, I was dealing with abnormal menstrual cycles and being severely anemic, which led to being hospitalized and receiving two rounds of blood transfusions. Last year, the Lord healed me completely through prayer and fasting.
Now that it's been a year, I've gotten used to the miracle. I started skipping workouts, not prioritizing a healthy, nutritious diet, and not going for walks as I used to when I was desperately waiting and praying for a miracle. Have I become familiar with something I once prayed and begged God for? I was convicted.
For you, it may not necessarily be your health, but maybe it's that relationship you were praying for. Maybe it's that job, business, or promotion you were praying for. Maybe it's the car or home you’ve been praying for. So how are you stewarding the time, talents, and treasures God has given you?
Being a good steward means acknowledging that God is the creator of all things, owns everything He has entrusted to us, and calls us to manage it well (1 Corinthians 9:17).
He gives us the blessings, but it's our responsibility to steward them.
So let this be your reminder to steward the blessings God has entrusted you with. We can't do it by our own understanding or might, but through the power of the Holy Spirit as we partner with Him (Zechariah 4:6).
